Maglev Trains:
Maglev is short for magnetic levitation. These
type of trains need a separate track made of Electro-Magnets. The train
actually hovers with its own magnets over the track for about 2 to 10
mm. The track has internal coils which
creates alternating field which pushes the train forward. Since there is
no physical contact between the track and the train, these maglev
trains can reach speeds of upto 300 mph easily. These Trains are
currently used in Germany and Japan.
